Week One - Big Ten Cheatin' and LSU Beatin'

Few things are finer than a Saturday full of college football. Week one delivered the drama, a bunch of crooked numbers, and connection/computer issues for TD. Greg is not a fan of the interNational Football League.

Sorry it took so long this week.

[00:00:00] And Alabama Take Prescription Welcome everybody to Takin' On Sports, IMTD. That is Greg. Greg, it's our first full weekend of college football. It felt great. How about you? That was beautiful. Five days of football and now I'm messing up. You know we had to get that Tuesday day off before we restarted for another six day.

[00:00:28] That's beautiful man. And we got all kinds of blowouts, we got craziness on and off the field. We had power outages and rain delays. Oh man. For a card that wasn't necessarily the sexiest card, there was a lot going on in week one. It was. And we'll certainly get to it. Of course we all would start with our beloved Crimson Tide.

[00:00:58] 48 to 10 winners over East Carolina in the first game of the season. Keylon Russell's first start. Let's start with him because he was the big story of course. And I thought he looked every bit the real deal. And you could definitely see the potential there. And a couple, you know, freshman mistakes, couple, you know, young guy mistakes that he's going to make.

[00:01:26] But overall, I was impressed with this performance. How about you? You know, you never know what to expect in a guy's first start. I mean, I thought it probably went better than expected. I mean, he seemed to flow well with the offense, knew what was going on, seemed to read the field pretty well.

[00:01:51] I mean, he ran. But when he did run, it was because the options weren't there. So he seemed to, when they, wasn't like a run first type. He was looking, scanning. When he wasn't there, then he'd take off. And that really added a lot. Because, you know, we're still working on an offensive line, though I thought the right side looked pretty good.

[00:02:16] But for the first game and all the hype and everything, I thought he did a mess. I really can't complain about anything. You know? No, yeah. Like I said, a couple, you know, mistakes here and there that you'd like to see, you know. But of course, this first start, you know, he's going to have some jitters maybe.

[00:02:40] You know, that one play in particular where he broke, kind of got outside the pocket and then, you know, nearly threw across the field, nearly threw an interception, and also ended up, you know, was ahead of the line of scrimmage. You know, that kind of stuff. That's the kind of stuff you tighten up as the season progresses. And, you know, you can afford to make those mistakes in game against East Carolina. Yeah. You know, sticking with the passing game. Yeah.

[00:03:09] I thought you said the line looked good. You know, definitely again, stuff to work on, but in pass protection pretty good. You know, receiving wise, Ryan Coleman Williams had a very interesting, yeah, very interesting 130 yard day.

[00:03:33] Dropped an easy touchdown, dropped a couple of easy passes, but made tough passes. Yeah, it's so weird. He drops the elementary one, but then if it's in double coverage and he's going over the middle and it's crazy, he's going to get blasted, he holds on no problem.

[00:03:54] So I don't quite understand some of the psyche behind him because he makes the ones that most people are probably not going to make because they don't want to get hit like that. Yeah. I guess a concentration thing, I guess he's got to be, you know, I don't know. It's weird because you thought, especially on that touchdown pass, he made a good move to get separation there on that back shoulder throw.

[00:04:21] And so it's just kind of, yeah, like you said, it's weird. And I've seen some things out there, people breaking down film where maybe he didn't, you know, wasn't hustling on certain plays, took certain plays off and it's hard to go out in the first game. Yeah. What's that guy with the Brooks? Brooks Austin. Yeah. Brooks Austin, which he has a great if you have the time to watch.

[00:04:51] He said Ryan did a horrible job for us. I mean, I didn't necessarily, wasn't looking for that. So I can't say yes or no about it. But, you know, big thing though, man, you just want to see him. I think he's trying, you know, he's obviously working his ass off. I don't think there's an effort problem.

[00:05:14] I don't know what the issue with some of the drops are, but, you know, you know, we just got to keep feeding them, I think. And, you know, I think more good will come from a season that you're feeding them the ball than not. Yeah. But, you know, if he's not hustling or he's not concentrating and he puts up 130 yards, yeah, let's get him concentrating and then, yeah, man.

[00:05:46] Let's keep going. Obviously, you know, I like, you know, though. And there was a couple of loads here Brooks plays that were off the charts with him. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I will say, main thing for Keylon, you got to learn how to slide, my guy, because you're going to get killed in the SEC with some of those in the run.

[00:06:16] Oh, yes. And, yeah, he took a couple hits in the legs, too. And I was just, every time you're like, eww, all right, get him, all right, good, we're good, good, yeah. He took some blanks, and I'm like, oh. Yeah, let's get Coach Vaughn out there and a couple of those baseball players to teach him how to slide out there, man.

[00:06:37] Yeah, because that's not going to be, because, you know, at that point, because if he's already got 15, 20-yard bang, you know, a frustrated defender is going to try to knock his damn head off. Yeah, exactly. You know, a dirty player trying to take his knee out, something like that.

[00:07:01] Yeah, you definitely, like we said, all kind of little things, little rookie things that could be cleaned up as you go along. You'd like to see some, you know, if the effort, like, I'm like you, I didn't watch a whole lot of the film yet to see, you know, where guys were taking plays off or whatnot.

[00:07:19] But like I said, if Ryan Kilmore is a father, if he doesn't hustle and he has 130 yards, then, hey, if we can get up his ass and, you know, get him to concentrate and hustle more, then, yeah, then, you know, big things are on the horizon.

[00:07:41] Yeah, I think we've got plenty of time to work on that, as we talked about in preview with this September schedule. I mean, I've got a game. Of course, go ahead. Yeah, no, you're about to talk about it, about the running game. I mean, it looked a little better there. You know, I saw some positive things there.

[00:08:11] The best thing I was looking for, you know, Keelan Russell won't run the ball well, but I'm seeing my biggest thing is I knew he had some legs, but I want to see what the backs themselves are doing. I mean, we know, you know, I don't want Keelan to be our leading rusher, you know. No. Yeah. I mean, it was fine for week one.

[00:08:36] We got over 200 on the ground, but, you know, you want to see your backs be your main source of, you know, him running when he has to, but you don't want to see him just running because everything else is broken down. I want to see the backs be the one that produce most of our yards there because I think we have a talented room.

[00:09:00] And they show signs of it, you know, but I just want to, you know, consistently have those guys be the leading carriers at the end of it, leading, you know, guys at the end of the day. Yeah, yeah, I agree. And some of that was just because when Keelan did get some space to run, he had, you know, 20 yards, you know, just wide open space. Yeah. So, you know, he was probably not going to as much, but.

[00:09:30] Exactly. Yeah. That was just something that was like, okay, he's, you know, the running backs weren't getting that kind of space. But, you know, overall, I mean, Daniel Hill nine carries 47 yards. That's a good average. E.J. Crowell, seven carries 37 yards. That's a really good average. They each had a touchdown. Daniel Hill had two touchdowns. And we saw a great deal.

[00:09:57] Daniel Hill continues just to be just such a hard runner. He does not go down on first contact. And he's one of those guys that's going to fall forward and get those extra couple yards. E.J. Crowell made on his touchdown, made that, got the corner, really just flashed his speed and playmaking ability. Saw some Kevin Riley, saw some Treshawn Brown. He got a touchdown.

[00:10:27] Treshawn. I like Treshawn. Yeah, yeah. He showed, he's kind of. I think he has, showing signs that man, he could be a special back as well. Treshawn. Yeah, absolutely. So. And I mean. Yeah, like you said overall, you know. I mean, I guess with our room, we don't necessarily have to have a star back that gets 150 or anything like that.

[00:10:57] I mean, if we're getting 40 or 50 from three or four players, I mean, that's equivalent of one great performance from the back. I'm happy with it. Yeah, exactly. Like, 227 yards rushing total on 49 runs. So, can't fault that really. Line looked pretty good in run blocking. They looked physical, which is what we want.

[00:11:25] And, you know, you could see we heard about, you know, the effect of Adrian Clem there as a line coach. And it showed it. And you just want to keep showing it. And next week is a good test against an SEC team on the road in Kentucky. You know, obviously not, you know, elite level, but still bigger guys, tougher athletes than East Carolina has. So. It's always a road game for a lot of these guys.

[00:11:52] You know, a lot of these guys, especially, you know, first time on the road. You know, Coker Field, if they're in the game and they get loud. Yeah. And it's a weird place. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and they're excited. I mean, they look decent week one there. You know, I think Kenny Menchie's probably a, you know, seems like a solid quarterback.

[00:12:18] You know, their coach seems to be the type of guy you want to build a program. He seems excited. He has, you know, he likes, you know, you think that he is what the players want to have as a coach in today's football world. And, you know, I guess, you know, he said he was in the attendance the last time they beat us when Tim Collins was quarterback. I hope to catch him.

[00:12:48] Man. Oh. Rough memories there. Yeah. Overall, solid performance. It's kind of perfect week one performance. Easy win, comfortable, looked good, came out the gates early. No serious injuries. No serious injuries and a lot of coachable moments. It's defense that we haven't really talked about then. Looked great.

[00:13:17] Looked physical. Looked flying to the ball. One mental breakdown. Awesome. A touchdown. Again, coachable moments. So there you go. Something to watch. Yonsei Pierre starting his All-American campaign in style with a pick six, a sack. You know, Bray Hubbard, Dijon Lee, you know, guys that secondary leading the way to thought they looked great.

[00:13:48] Against the offense, it was a pretty nice scoring last year. Pretty good offense. So. Yeah. I mean, different quarterback. Right. But overall, I mean, for what it is, I mean, we played a middle of the road team there. Probably a team that had been, you know, probably a bold team at the end of the year. You know, it wasn't a complete cupcake. I mean, they're still, you know, part of a respectable conference.

[00:14:19] You know, solid G16 was, well, you know, some football history. So. But what it's worth, I mean, it was a good week one win. You know, I don't think you really could expect anything more or less. I mean, I think they lived up to the hype. Best thing that I did see, though, is that the offense, though, you know, we did kind of slow down a little bit in the third quarter.

[00:14:48] They seemed in the right, at least the right flow of things like it wasn't choppy. It wasn't, you know, it was, I've got overall a much cleaner performance than what we've seen the last two years. Mm-hmm. So, I was, I mean, for week one, you know, all the new faces, you know, I can't really complain about anything too bad. No, yeah.

[00:15:16] Like I said, there's no big complaints. And then you've got a lot of things to coach. Right. A lot of stuff you can look at on film, like, hey guys, let's work on this. Let's tighten this up. Yeah. And, you know, they always say the biggest improvements are from week one to week two. So, we'll see if we go start our SEC schedule early this year on the road. So, looking forward to that next week.

[00:15:43] What, what crazy game do you want to start with from the rest of the country? Should we go Michigan getting, cheating Western Michigan out of a victory? The LSU ass whoop in. I mean, I guess, let's start with Michigan, Western Michigan game.

[00:16:04] I mean, that was, I mean, Western Michigan, I mean, first of all, Michigan was absolutely terrible. Hmm. Looked terrible. They were great. They had a great first drive. They had a great first drive and then nothing. But, you know, I think, you know, that is we want to say Michigan suck. That's the kudos to the Western Michigan defense.

[00:16:32] They did the hell of a cop for that last play. That never should have happened. But, you know, they feel terrible for Western Michigan. I mean, that's kind of, that's like a once in a lifetime memory taken away. You know, you went to the big house and you outplayed them.

[00:16:57] And, you know, everybody knows, everybody knows they won the game and why they got the extra second and the description of why they got there to prime and the .5 on the clock. And we don't deal in .0 in the car football. So, terrible excuse from the Big Ten. Trash. Yeah. It's horrible.

[00:17:27] Absolutely ridiculous. Yeah. Like you said, a terrible explanation. You know, they said that the clock. I've never seen a big drive in the car football. Yeah. It is absolutely ridiculous. I'm not, you know, saying it's some Big Ten conspiracy out here. What I'm saying is shady as hell and it's bullshit.

[00:17:55] And it's scary to say, but the ACC is the only one that has it right here where they actually let you look in at what's being discussed there. Yeah. And I think if they had that in real time, people would have taken it. But as now, today the MAC has filed a formal appeal to the NCAA oversight board saying that the officials in the game actually violated replay protocol

[00:18:24] because they're supposed to use the clock that's seen on the broadcast, not some secret clock that they have. So, interesting to see what comes with this. And I'm close. Yeah. Don't really think that... Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Don't really think this will get... Yeah, right? There's no stoppage time. I don't think, you know, I don't think we'll see this, you know,

[00:18:52] get overturned or anything, but I do think we've already seen some consequence. You know, Michigan dropped out of the AP poll after being ranked 16th and, you know, Western Michigan is appealing to voters saying basically to the college football playoff and all that. Like, hey, you should treat this like a Michigan loss and a Western Michigan win when it comes time later in the year, especially if Western Michigan runs the table. Of course, I think they got...

[00:19:21] I think they're going to go 11 and... They go 11 and one. Yeah. And they're compared to other... Other group of 16. Yeah, man. I mean, you gotta... If I were a voter, I would count this as a Western Michigan... I'd look at it as a Western Michigan win because they... beat the shit out of Michigan. They out Michigan. Well, they out Michigan.

[00:19:49] In all facets of the game. Like, you would have loved if they had scored touchdowns because that would definitely put the game away. Of course, that's why they say maybe you want to score touchdowns and just don't beat a team, especially on the road there. And obviously, they're playing against more than just Michigan at the end of the game there. But, you know, kudos to them. You just hope that...

[00:20:18] And I'm sure, you know, I think that they will be okay, but you just hope they're mentally strong from this and, you know, just get better and have a team to just have a hell of a season. You don't want them to be negatively affected by what happened. And, you know, they're obviously a good team. I mean, they won the MAAC last year and they show no signs of, you know...

[00:20:46] They show the signs of a team that should very much be in contention for winning the MAAC again and very much could be in the playoff hunt. Now, they get another big opportunity, though. I mean, they get... Boise State on the 26th of the month. So, let's take advantage of them and get that win. And Boise comes to Kalamazoo, too. Boise comes to Kalamazoo, so...

[00:21:16] That's going to be an epic... So, that's your opportunity to really say, hey, you know, we beat Michigan. And if they beat Boise, then, hey, that's, you know, that's a big group of six win over a team that has a lot... Probably the most respected group of six team of all time. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:21:43] So, tough, tough, tough break for Western Michigan. And the one thing you can say, even if the play shouldn't have happened, Michigan still had to complete that pass and they did. And give credit to Bryce Underwood because he got rocked on that throw, too. He got absolutely troubled. But it's like, but it's like, where was that the rest of the game? Like, dude. Yeah, right. The person who had to play, like...

[00:22:13] Because it was wild because I had... I had stepped out the... Like, something happened, but I saw where the... I watched the play that went out of bounds and then I stepped away for a quick second because I was like, man, that's awesome. You know, they just won the game. I went to go do something else, came back and I was like, what the fuck am I looking at? Yeah, it was the same.

[00:22:43] I stayed up watching, you know, we were on the road this weekend for the holiday and everybody else in the house had gone to sleep and... Or, no, same thing. People watched it and then they went to bed and in the morning I was saying, man, they're... You know, I mentioned I had actually fallen asleep on the couch. Yeah. You know, I was like, watching football, I think watching that UCLA...

[00:23:13] That UCLA tower game. That's what I fell asleep on. I fell asleep when it was 31-24 I woke up and then UCLA just kicking their ass. I was like, what happened? Yeah, they just turned it on there, man. But yeah... Turned it on in the fourth morning. See, I'm talking to people in the morning. Yeah, they really did, man.

[00:23:39] I was talking to people in the morning and I was like, yeah, man, Western Michigan got screwed. What do you mean? They won the game. I'm like, no, they put a second back on the clock and Michigan made a Hail Mary. And, you know, I was there with the family and my mom's boyfriend. He's a Penn State guy. So he's like, oh, that's bullshit. You're kidding me. You know? That's probably good. Well, he was real pissed about it because he was giddy watching him just get run over.

[00:24:10] Yeah. But yeah, so you feel bad. But I'll tell you what, we both had Michigan as our disappointing team in the Big Ten. And I'm going to go ahead and already mark that as a victory for us because if you rush the field, Western Michigan, when you needed an extra second on the clock. Like, right. Yeah, you were super excited and that's an awesome play because, like, come on.

[00:24:40] Celebrating the stands. Come on. You're Michigan. You just won a title two years ago. Just a couple years ago. You won three years ago. You won a damn NCAA championship. Chill out. Yeah.

[00:25:04] Abuse and damn, have some damn respect for yourself, man, that's shameful. Not like the rest of the field. Yeah, right? Not some tradition. Yeah. And I'll tell you what As bad as that Michigan offense looked It is not going to get easier for them Because the Oklahoma Sooners And that Brent Venables defense Come calling next week

[00:25:36] And if some miracles Don't happen on that practice field this week That one might get ugly I don't know How you know Oklahoma offense looked good against UTEP But more importantly That defense is going to eat Bryce Underwood And that Michigan offense alive And I just don't know Is Bryce Underwood

[00:26:05] Is he just not good Or is he not getting I don't understand Because As much hype as he got Last year As much money at Michigan Even out of Baton Rouge And I get last year It was a dumpster fire Of Michigan And I get why He didn't succeed as much As people would have thought Last year Because that team was trash

[00:26:33] Nothing was going right Their coaching Obviously having Other things going on But To come back this year And basically look the exact same A year later Later It's like Damn There was no growth Yeah It looks rough Man So And it's not Now Whittingham Is already About Moving the Tommy car

[00:27:04] Yeah I'm like Whoa Yeah And it's not I don't know how That What do people feel about that Considering all the money They poured in the rice Underwood It's like Whoa Yeah Yeah I tell you And Oklahoma Brent Venable's defense Is not the game To get right against So it could be Very quickly A One and one Start For Michigan And a spiritual

[00:27:34] O and two start Um Cause I tell you what With You know The way this win Unfolded And then If they come And they put up Another pitiful Offensive effort And a loss To Oklahoma Especially if they get Blown out at home I think you can Kiss any chance Of a playoff Goodbye Unless they just Have a miracle Turnaround Absolutely Right I mean And the thing You'd have to think

[00:28:03] They can't They have to be Better Right With Oklahoma Right You would think They can't be At Like obviously You know You think That they Did they overlook The western Michigan game Did they walk You know You'd have to think That No matter what You have to look Better Right Against Oklahoma Oklahoma Like I get Like Oklahoma But you think You may Get up For the

[00:28:33] Oklahoma game And I'm Hard to believe That they're just Gonna Be like 60 to 3 But Based on what I saw Saturday There's nothing So that they Won't For a second We're here Yeah So We'll see If anything Comes of that From the max Appeal Like I said It's highly Unlikely That some Result Gets Changed But I I I I

[00:29:03] I I I I I I I I I I I I I I

[00:29:32] you know come come uh come uh yeah for real um let's move on uh ellis shoe just dismantled clemson

[00:30:00] uh man and just from the start uh clemson was never in this game um after a lengthy delay to a lightning storm in the area yeah lsu living up to all the hype elaine kiffin being lane kiffin with his little halftime remarks uh saying imagine if we have pro players uh

[00:30:33] yes it is man um we'll get to the sec's response to that in a bit but uh i i don't know it's one of these things it's like if lsu is that good that's scary uh on the other hand it just you know it's clemson pretty bad again it's hard to tell what we take away from this other than lane definitely

[00:30:59] has some weapons as at his disposal but uh we'll see we've seen lane kiffin have these high powered offenses before and make some done coaching decisions that cost his team or you know not have his team up for a game against uh kentucky or something like that so uh we'll see where that goes

[00:31:21] but for game one yeah game one if you're if you're lsu it's great yeah yeah yeah i mean if you're an lsu fan would have with how the off season's been and then all the talk and everything going on outside the game and then you feel like your program's being attacked and then you have a game against

[00:31:45] what people thought was a good was a still a solid program in clemson we'll wait and see what the case is with that um you know it was everything you could help them dream for i mean your your running game looked much better than it did last year your defense was destructive i mean your quarterback was

[00:32:10] healthy around the ball well past the ball well and they all gained did they all gain clemson bound with 400 yards i feel ridiculous it was let's see it was absolutely insane let's see 300 i think they were getting about like 99 or something it's everything you could have hoped for that was yeah uh absolutely

[00:32:40] like i said uh from the get-go to uh you know 17 points in the first quarter only gave a three clemson to get their touchdown to the end let's see uh total yards yep out gained them 644 to 145 so nearly 500 yards uh like that is absolutely just that's it's embarrassing if you're clemson too

[00:33:08] that's and dabbo's on the defensive in his interviews already but man today he was all uh with the chances and the main uh d writer asking if he was happy about his uh all season roster moves and did he with it's a little thing well you're always with the got me questions i mean come on bro so i just got spotted

[00:33:35] yeah he's a cornered animal and uh yeah yeah that's feel like man he's like going down in the flame like it could get worse and really saturday yeah yeah it was like could have put up more points if they wanted to i swear oh for sure yeah it was

[00:33:59] lsu could have done what they wanted uh at any time in that game absolutely uh it's just i think you just throw away the tape dude you don't even look at that you just move on to next week and practice harder than hope that you know that was just one of them things but you know there's a there's a game every now and again where you just get punched in your

[00:34:24] shit and you never recover and then if you play that game nine more times you don't get hit nearly as bad you're close you hope that that's the case you know you got the kicked out of you but obviously you're better than that and you would hope that things look different honestly i i don't think

[00:34:47] that's the case but we believe you know that's the best best case scenario for clinton yeah uh yeah and going forward let's see go ahead a quarterback i was just saying you've had a the thing they do uh christian i mean this man has been on the program for what three or four years

[00:35:18] sadly i guess you see why he's been in the program just sitting the man had 83 yards passing only 10 and 16 uh one interception like we had nothing going on either side of the ball and honestly you know we're talking we were just talking about the former defensive coordinator at oklahoma they really haven't been anything since

[00:35:47] he left he would like to glue the kept everything together it seemed like no for sure yeah it was um that defense and you know that's it's just like a a building list of things now that are you know happening dabbo's refusal to adapt to the nil and transfer portal era

[00:36:13] um in the court the star quarterbacks anymore uh yeah while they have a plethora of elite receivers and they don't have those anymore um you know you just you have to think you know at the end of the

[00:36:39] season man if this continues as is if they don't they're not above 500 at the end of this year you'd have to think that both sides have fingers it's just time to move on and you hope if you're clinton but move on and agrees to because he loves the program overall uh you know that he doesn't want

[00:37:03] the full buyout because that's a big buyout it's still like i just read someone's like 40 40 or 50 some million if they buy them out so that's a lot it is but yeah it's lost like that it's you're getting in a territory where you know they're probably not gonna fire him but there's definitely

[00:37:26] a conversation to be had after the season where it's hey coach come on we need you to do his best and step down here because if you think about it you know a lot last year they put everything down all of garrett riley's fault and obviously it's not garrett riley's fault but in okay and couldn't see more the offensive like trash

[00:37:53] yeah and it's rare to see the defense the clemson defense get manhandled like that too a mile lady yeah yeah i don't know what you overall i think like you said you just throw that there's nothing to watch from that date throw that away and you move on

[00:38:21] there's nothing positive to gain from that like you know there's i don't you just know that there's nothing you know we've had a couple of those games on the basketball side for all of them who was weird game deal i just throw that away like there's nothing to gain from this there's saying that you felt saturday night should be enough to motivate you for a while

[00:38:51] yeah yeah we'll see what yeah what davos got left on this fastball in terms of motivating his guy and what kind of pride they have in that locker room because yeah they should come out they get georgia southern next week uh that should be an ugly ugly game you should feel sorry for georgia southern um and then they they host north carolina after that who you know of course showed a little life and beaten tcu so um

[00:39:21] yeah it's definitely uh we'll see how they respond and we'll see how you know lsu has la tech next so nothing nothing big there you know they had a little break before that big one to knoxford week three but right uh let's uh move on to the other uh stay on saturday

[00:39:43] real quick uh number two oregon got all they could ask for and more from boise state uh only a touchdown victory for the ducks there now boise state looking every bit the part of the giant killer and best of the group of six teams uh we're gonna needed a late touchdown to survive

[00:40:11] but those last two drives dante morely looked amazing absolutely and his stats at the end of the day uh 28 to 37 378 three touchdowns um certainly you know that the heisman hype train is in full steam for him but yeah the ducks need it

[00:40:33] but you know there is no shame and getting in the dog fight with boise state man uh even if you're number two they always remember two when oregon ran the went undefeated to their big 10 season and you know everyone won the conference right go and the uh championship game you know

[00:41:02] they were in the rock fight with boys to say that year too yeah they had to kick a field goal as time expired to win that one right uh yeah we saw the week before i had trouble with idaho uh that's right yes boys state always give boise state always gives oregon everything they want and i you know i was a

[00:41:28] little or and i you know i'll troll because it's big 10 so but i don't have like a lot of hatreds for the west coast teams in the big fan uh but you know you have i more or less look at it like this oregon good team probably a little pressure of coming in with all the hype but you plan

[00:41:51] the best g6 team of our lifetime because all the other decent g6 teams have gone to a power conference now at csu utah uyu all in a conference now you know conference so but i you know i think boise state and i think we're you know we're in you know for a treat that's coming up we can

[00:42:23] nexus goes to the blue field and i think that would be a hell of a game oh yeah that is gonna be good one man boise playing all the it's a hell of the out of conference schedule for them man they have a lot of the out of conference schedule yeah uh bracket but yeah bracket busters man their season is oregon memphis and then they

[00:42:54] south dakota i mean of course a lot of shipping you just found south dakota state and then most traditional games through those four first games i mean that's that's like big time so before they get into conference play yeah um yeah boys will earn that playoff spot if they get there

[00:43:22] and they will i feel like if they go 11 and one and their one loss is oregon and oregon goes on to be the work and we expect them to still be it's gonna be hard to keep boys out of the playoff yeah uh for sure um

[00:43:42] but yeah that was that was pretty much it as far as we're talking about top 25 a lot of blowouts around the country

[00:43:59] yeah kind of what you expected to see from the big dogs i mean we talked about you know how dominant miami looked uh you know high numbers uh you know uh oklahoma 51-0 um

[00:44:25] um you know ohio state 56 georgia put up 63. um aandum started a little slow but then in 150 nothing over missouri state uh you know by you put up 63

[00:44:45] then state put up 45. hell even uh you know uh one that i thought was money in the bank uh i will put up what 40 stone yeah yeah i will put up 40 on northern illinois not that that northern illinois was

[00:45:09] good but i didn't know with hank brown and i will put up 40. um but they did so i mean the big dogs came out they scored they won and you expected that for most of uh week two excuse me out of week one other than you know the game we got sunday night which lived up to the hype with the louisville and the uh

[00:45:37] you know lugo miss and then of course you know you had to strange ones boise state uh giving working everything they wanted western michigan giving michigan more than more than enough and then you know really the only other really close game it was an ugly game was that thursday night you know colorado getting to win and then land over georgia tech yeah another one of those kind of like

[00:46:07] auburn baylor terrible game throughout but a exciting ending at least um my goodness the last 40 seconds have more action than the whole game they really did man uh colorado driving down the field uh taking the lead uh georgia tech responding with a big play getting the field goal range and then a block field goal to to take it home for the buffaloes a good road win to start the year

[00:46:37] yeah i mean everything happened i mean yeah there was really nothing at this a little action at the start you know a lot of action in the last 40 seconds in between it was a bunch of ugly play you know huge wins for uh colorado just because you know colorado needs wins um

[00:47:02] probably saw the longest but then you only time you could stop with the wind on the road and not much of it is expected of you is a you know a great thing if you're going to be a good game for georgia tech you're kind of disappointed you couldn't run the ball over the dam um which is your strong suit and the offense was bad defense was solid i guess

[00:47:28] at the same time maybe colorado's offense is not good either so i don't know uh um i think you have a lot of more questions since the georgia tech as far as what's going on going sports team against the against the team in colorado they gave up a plethora of points every

[00:47:49] week last season at some height so what no georgia tech hey now you can shock the world this week and hopefully get tennessee a hell of a game on saturday yeah uh yeah well i know a lot of fans in crimson be rooting for uh the yellow jackets there

[00:48:16] uh of course this upcoming weekend uh the main event is at ohio state texas till uh hopefully we get some more offense than we did last year in that game and we should you would think so but i mean you gotta look at last year i mean we have uh you know dude

[00:48:39] who never played football really at all as far as being a starter um against that and the first meaningful start at texas on the road with all the pressure of a long names so i mean i really can't knock you the quarterback i would say you know it ended up being a interesting ending

[00:49:04] to that game but yeah you would expect some more some fireworks this year because honestly over the last 20 years texas and ohio state have given us some big games when they play each other whether it be the bulls or regular season they had a couple of good games there um you know they've had some good

[00:49:28] games over the years um but you know i guess the main thing probably going for texas is man 6 30 saturday night at awesome's gonna be blazing high

[00:49:44] uh yeah it is uh i know it was brutal there um it was brutal there this week and that that 11 o'clock kickoff uh yeah and yeah 6 30 and the heat still gonna be there it's not gonna it might be down to 90.

[00:50:12] uh i think as of right now it looks like uh predicted temperature and even at kickoff at 6 30 is gonna be 98 degrees but yeah uh why another couple interesting ones uh you mentioned that tennessee georgia tech one uh we got uh we got the border war on friday missouri kansas uh robbery that should be every year

[00:50:43] absolutely that's just man and really if you talked about it but a lot of people don't understand all the hatred there's really been a lot of civil war between these two states the states hate each teams hate each other whether it be on the football field the basketball court tennessee winks it doesn't matter but really uh

[00:51:13] a lot of interesting spots in the sec off the we talked the border war that's always interesting one um missouri fire almost a six percent on the road so we'll see that and we got our game against kentucky you know just see what alabama looks like on the road what does kentucky look like against alabama uh you know you get a nice texas day of them arizona state game um to start the day at 11.

[00:51:43] you know arizona state comes in the big win there week one and how do they look uh kyle field you know we got oklahoma michigan you know lots of little sluster after last week but you would think michigan has looked better than they did last year last week and then uh you know

[00:52:06] you got an interesting big 10 uh sdc match up man you know the bulldogs in mississippi state going up to the minneapolis to face the gophers uh tennessee georgia tech and then you know um close things out you have uh arkansas going to utah so i think the sec has a lot of interesting games so for week two you know of course the big dog one but a lot of other

[00:52:36] games maybe not like you know the biggest matchups but some very interesting games for you know a lot of becoming teams no yeah might be one of those sneaky good weeks uh where we there's not a lot of main events but uh that's usually when something sneaks up and surprises you right i like the ncc schedule um

[00:53:06] um but yeah i think you know week two kind of has the feel what you think a week one should have as far as the matchups you know the matchups a little sex here this week uh what they were on week one and what really did i you know football heads will talk about it but we talked

[00:53:34] uh we're really there i'm really excited for their memphis game i'm i'm really excited for that one five o'clock um so then of course i'll be deep in our game but you know hopefully you know we could get a solid win there so i can enjoy the end of the boise state uh the second half of the boise state

[00:54:01] mid-niff this game because i think that's gonna be a hell of a game yeah absolutely kind of like a bracket buster feel to that one um yeah but uh i guess uh off the field uh the big some big news before we started recording lsu will not put the former nfl players on their roster

[00:54:27] yeah it's like with other guys yes i guess they've kind of backed off although there still is an sec meeting uh thursday uh the talk is you know oh they might kick out i don't think they're shot how they kick lsu out the conference but i think mostly about flexing their muscles and saying hey you got to follow the rules we

[00:54:56] set forth basically it's no one's bigger than the conference conversation more than anything exactly exactly he's trying basically what they don't want to have they don't want anything to turn into texas with the big 12. they say hey you're shutting this down you had your little run

[00:55:21] push as far as you could without going over the line but man we can't have you do this anymore and obviously really what you know really what it is is uh two two two groups they have a lot of power a lot of money and they just wanted to push each other to the edge but obviously lose money lsu doesn't want to lose

[00:55:50] that sec money the sec makes good money off lsu like it's too much money to be lost for rich people to back out of what you know or try to remember the sec you know it's not happening it's good conversation it's entertaining from the outside if you're watching it but yeah there's no way in hell

[00:56:14] that they were going to kick lsu out of the conference um just as lsu wasn't gonna uh they didn't play their players saturday and they you know seem to have back down enough that you know will at least make it through this season about any further things i would i would assume

[00:56:35] right uh of course elsewhere uh nfl kicks off this uh week on wednesday night you know wednesday with a super bowl rematch and then thursday you got the uh niners and rams uh no aaron donald for the first game as he's still ramping up uh to get into playing shape that still should be a

[00:57:03] great one yeah very i mean i mean going all the way to australia playing right i mean that takes some out of here um um honestly i i'm not a i get the international aspect of it but i'm not a fan of nfl in europe i'm

[00:57:32] just not i'm not i don't understand or australia this one but i don't understand like this international push especially a big game like that if i'm a rams fan or a 49er fan and i might be we can have this at our stadium bro yeah right i don't know i think it's too big of a game to have

[00:58:00] that far away from i don't uh no i agree i i think in a preseason sure go overseas play some games but i know if i were owner i would hate losing a home game uh uh to overseas yeah if i were a player i'd hate it because you know it throws off your schedule or you know uh athletes are creatures of routine

[00:58:27] uh it's just you know it's a money grab and i think you could play you could do this in the preseason that would still sell out you'd still get the the ticket gate you know you'd still expose the game to foreign audiences that you know might you might get them to watch uh in the regular season so yeah i i

[00:58:50] i'm with you i don't like it i know i think it's like when uh it's like when the european teams put in that other season somewhere so it's not it doesn't mean it's not a win you know it's not a regular season game but obviously it's going to sell out because some different yeah that's nice yeah it's

[00:59:15] nice to go and see them but yeah it's not we're not playing a domestic league game on foreign soil it's weird um i know our our teams are gonna play each other in rio right uh week three or something like that yeah so uh but i mean the only one that makes sense is like when they have games like mexico

[00:59:43] so it's right there you know there's a lot of cowboys fans in mexico a lot of raider fans in mexico that kind of stuff would make sense but is there really that much appeal for the afl in europe i don't know if there is you know yeah and even then like i said to me like as a player as an owner like i wouldn't want that travel i wouldn't want that to if i'm an owner i don't want to lose that home

[01:00:10] game that that revenue you get from ticket sales what's the like what is the but what is is there a overall goal is it to have a team move to a different country at some point or and what's your end-all goal with these all these international games i guess i don't know it's about you know corporate to me it's just corporate nonsense you know expand the brand you got to get the brand out

[01:00:36] there i'm like you're the nfl everyone knows who the nfl is like yeah before they're gonna watch the nfl in other countries wow i'm assuming already watching themselves i don't think them going to england or them going to wherever they go is going to change that time yeah or i mean look at

[01:01:00] something like the premier league people get up here at six in the morning to go to a local bar and drink and watch soccer and they don't you know like you said they just come over in the off season come over in the summer play a couple exhibition games uh and you know they get good tv contracts just get your good tv contracts people watch uh so i'm with you again i don't like it

[01:01:26] i don't like them no i don't see the benefit of what it really accomplishes especially i guess like one time a year but they do it like six or seven times a year now it's like bro yeah it's too much like i said i wish they would do that all if you want to play every preseason game uh somewhere else that's cool by me but yeah once the games actually start to mean something let's

[01:01:53] let's keep it here let's keep it in the stadiums um yeah because i feel like eventually their goal is to have like a super bowl or something in another country i'm sure like they're trying to go that yeah they're trying to go that wwe route of having a major pay-per-view yeah right uh sadi arabia yeah and it's it's not the same yeah like

[01:02:21] do i mean i don't like wwe doing it in saudi arabia but yeah when it's in england or some paris some market like that cool um or you look at aw you know all in and london's always a great success uh but yeah you feel outside the u.s i'm just not a fan of no yeah just in any sport that's not just you know like saying keep it america that's when you know

[01:02:50] european soccer league you know la liga was talking about doing a actual game in miami or something like that and eventually you know all the fans and everybody rose to stock and they're like no man it's a league game it's the spanish league it should be played in spain right and same thing nfl is an american league it should be played in america and do your exhibition

[01:03:13] games outside the country you know it's fine like uh people will watch it on tv um yeah well yeah uh other than that uh yeah baseball pennant races uh as we said you know hot and heavy right now your division leaders you got tampa bay chicago houston and the al atlanta milwaukee la

[01:03:38] still in the nl uh your wild card races when jorge came back tonight oh yeah big gift for the yankees yeah but i mean just to see him out there after the time coming back in september should be ready to go you know back and pull flying by october when the building matters

[01:04:04] yeah it's big um you know and yeah yanks only four games back of tampa bay for that al east crown of course they're well ahead in the wild card standings then boston and cleveland currently hold it with toronto game and a half back there and then you got texas baltimore and minnesota

[01:04:27] put off within four and a half games uh over in the in out on the wild card philly and chicago and arizona have the spots with san diego one game back there that's kind of that's kind of where that race is kind of taking shape there uh st louis and pittsburgh have fallen five and a half back miami sits there six back so i don't need those teams will really need to get hot uh if they want to

[01:04:57] sneak in there but it looks like you got those three teams uh vine or four teams firing for three spots right there um we kind of raised it in the set yeah um as far as yeah especially in the nl man you got to get your you got to get that wild card spot because the division's hard to come by philly

[01:05:19] has clawed within four games in atlanta they just split a four game series in philly and they'll play three this weekend in atlanta uh so that would be another big series right there um determinator but like milwaukee's got a nine game lane central la's got a 10 game lead in the west there uh the division race is a much better al

[01:05:49] i mean arizona san diego i mean they're in the playoff hunt but yeah they're 10 and 11 back from the dodgers no way they win the west so you gotta yeah they're fighting for that wild card that last wild card spot there yeah like i said division race is much better in the al where houston's got a two and a half game lead over texas now the white sox got a two game lead over cleveland like we

[01:06:12] mentioned the yanks only four back of the rays uh in the east dude and then the rangers do they they're the most up and down team in the no they'll win some they're the most up and down team in the world like some of the games they lost recently have been

[01:06:34] like the america they lost to like the athletics and the and the angles right but they'll you know they'll be used to no problem but then struggle you know with the bottom of the division

[01:06:54] yeah yeah uh elsewhere uh it looks like there'll be uh the college football playoff i had their usual meeting to decide if they want to expand uh live golf has officially filed for bankruptcy

[01:07:15] um yeah uh yeah once the saudis hold that money yeah uh baker mayfield got his extension three years 165 from tampa bay uh and the 49ers even though they have they're in australia practicing away from that uh electrical facility uh alfred collins uh defensive tackle terraces patella tendon he is out for

[01:07:45] the year uh that injury bug just they cannot escape that and uh 49ers i think at this time and it reminds me of where the ravens were a few seasons ago and they had to make a change their strength and conditioning uh coach and and team there because they're just doing something wrong there with all these injuries man

[01:08:10] uh it gets to the point where uh something's not right in the way you're doing things so uh but other than that that's it uh greg you got anything else before we get out of here i mean i have been watching some of the fever uh the the women um in the national tournament right now you know uh mainly just the

[01:08:39] u.s games there so you know just one of them hope that they win the win the fever uh tournament there if you're not interested you know that the wmba shuts down a couple weeks to have the talent and the fever tournament um and we'll get back to the regular season so some good games there um tnt mainly um and i

[01:09:06] guess hbo max chose all the games as well but uh we've had you know some interesting matchups there struggled uh a couple days ago in the matchup um i think we play again on the 10th we'll try giving against hungry on the 10th but it's at 4 30 in the morning ha no

[01:09:28] um yeah but you know that's interesting uh but yeah other than that man it's been football crazy uh man week one i mean as as many blowouts as it was i don't know as they say it it was a very interesting

[01:09:51] week one a lot of weird stuff happened you know we have we had uh weather delays rain uh power delays i mean in two of the bigger matchups of the weekend there and uh you know baton rouge i mean that game didn't start almost nine o'clock which is crazy and then really you didn't even have to watch you didn't have to watch the game you didn't miss anything because it was on the game comes and

[01:10:21] never comes in comes and left with the storm uh uh but yeah but you know other than that man you know we're in a good spot man week two o'clock football week one of the of the nfl and we got football wednesday through next monday before we get

[01:10:46] another tuesday break uh um so i mean if you're a football fan you're loving it if you're a woman with uh honey to do lists man you hate this time of year because your husband is annoying got to get him got to get him during the week

[01:11:11] uh you know we only get the uh september to to february to really have that time so man enjoy it um other than that you know we're just you know this just a beautiful time of the year

[01:11:34] sure absolutely uh well with that said uh we will see y'all next week i will try to figure out whatever is going on with my connection issues here uh honestly i think i need to take my computer to the apple store and see here uh i think it's kind of a processing problem but
